… and they became treasure.

For children aged 4 to 8

[SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA]–August 19, 2025– Author Marie-Fleur Borac and illustrator Sonny Lata Yiu are thrilled to announce the release of their debut children’s fantasy story, ‘The Butterfly’s Treasure,’ an enchanting fairytale fable for readers aged 4-8. This heartwarming tale explores themes of self-actualization, the power of collaboration, and overcoming adversity through a uniquely crafted narrative brought to life with stunning visuals and a delightful sense of humor.

‘The Butterfly’s Treasure’ unfolds in fairytale style where a butterfly’s serene life is shattered by an evil witch who destroys his beloved flowers and steals his prized possessions. Driven by sorrow and a mission for closure, the butterfly teams up with an odd assortment of companions. Despite their individual imperfections and initial self-serving motivations, the unlikely trio soon discovers the strength found in caring for one another and in working as a team.

‘The Butterfly’s Treasure’ is a unique work of collaboration. Author Marie-Fleur Borac is a doctoral candidate in mathematics at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) whose unstoppable passion for writing was recognized with a Diana Raab Fellowship from UCSB. Complementing her narrative is the enchanting artwork of Sonny Lata Yiu, a talented painter and children’s book illustrator who recently graduated with her B.A. in Art from the University of California Santa Barbara’s College of Creative Studies (CCS). Their combined perspectives bring a fresh and heartfelt dimension to this fable-like fairy tale.

“Giving life to ‘The Butterfly’s Treasure’ has been the result of a fortuitous collaboration,” says Marie-Fleur Borac. “I hope this story inspires young readers to see that true strength comes not from perfection, but from embracing who you are, from finding courage, and from daring to face challenges.”

`The Butterfly’s Treasure’ is available in several languages: English, French, German, and Romanian.
